<aside> 💭 Prompt: It's no surprise we're responding to the uncertainty of the world with seriousness. But holding onto a serious outlook too long can permanently furrow your face. To avoid this fate it's helpful to lean into the funny and ridiculous. Not as avoidance, rather as a purposeful way to see the world through a warmer lens.

In this spirit, write about a time in the recent past when you lost it laughing or were charmed by something unexpected. A case of the zoomies with a friend or partner, learning something so absurd as to be unbelievable, a new noise you accidentally invented.

Unexpected positive 🙃

During this unique situation we are now living in I’ve been continuously surprised by people’s willingness to reach out and make the effort to be social. I’ve been scheduling virtual happy hours, brunches, game nights, and Netflix parties. I think I’m talking to more people socially than normal.

At the end of the first virtual happy hour I did, my friends suggest we make it a weekly standing appointment. This happened again when I did a Netflix party, now a weekly appointment to watch a movie together. And then again during a late Sunday happy hour with two friends. This surprised me but also made me happy. I’m seeing these people more than I normally would and it’s helping us all stay sane. I’m excited to see how my social calendar develops though this weird time. Do people stay motivated to meet or do people get depressed and lose interest? I hope people stay motivated. There is an “we are in this together” feel to the motivation. Which also makes me happy.

Dance like nobody's watching - I can't guarantee a laugh, but it just might get you there 💃🏻

You know that feeling when you're bursting with energy because everything in your life is >quarantined or >or sheltered in place >or closed >or just out of arms-reach >or simply not the same as it used to be?

It's like there's a countdown to the moment when you explode, you can feel it coming

It's 11:45pm on a weekday - which is to say any day at any time

I'm in bed, in my pajamas - Dave's already in bed - we're talking, our normal evening chatter about everything and nothing
